Editor
I have been a private writing consultant and editor since 1998, working with fiction, nonfiction, project proposals, poetry . . . you name it. With three Master’s Degrees—of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, of Literature, and of Teaching Writing—I am qualified and credentialed to meet your needs. I’ve taught English at Humboldt State University, College of the Redwoods, and the Redwood Coast Writers’ Center in California; and teach poetry to students through residencies with California Poets in the Schools. I have been a contributing editor to different publications, and my own work is widely published.
I provide writing assistance in different ways, depending on your needs. This can range from simple proofreading and copy editing to substantive editing. In substantive editing, I examine the content and structure of a manuscript as a whole, which can involve reordering large sections of text, removing text, adding text, even some rewriting. I can provide feedback on textual formatting and overall visual formatting, word choice and tone, and how to strengthen weak areas.
Your writing will be quickly transformed into a beautiful, finished product by someone who knows his way with words. E-mail your query to dan@zevlev.com, or send your telephone number and I will call you on my dime. Ask for a free initial consultation and manuscript review to see if this is the right fit for you. Rates are reasonable, and vary per project; ask me for an estimate.
My areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Fiction
• Nonfiction
• Articles
• Resumes
• Project proposals
• Poetry
• Academic papers and theses
